If you are here it means that my alias, The Introvert Writer made you curious.

This alias is, I hope, self-explanatory, though perhaps also a little redundant.

But let’s not generalise it: many writers I came to meet in the past two and a half years are in fact, not introverts – they are quite comfortable in front of the camera without the need of thirty minutes of breathing exercises.

I am not one of those.

I have created two layers to hide behind: my pen name and now this rather quaint alias.

Why did I decide to create this alias and this blog?

The simple answer is because I thought it would be fun, and that is actually the truth of it.

My love for writing began almost as soon as I learned how to. The school assays quickly evolved into short stories. The short stores into novellas. I had piles of notebooks at home.

My pen was seldom idle.

The first “book” that I wrote was in my teens. At first my themes swirled around my reality: school drama, crushes, that kind of thing.

It was around that time that I began to write my first fantasy novel which I would only publish decades later.

Despite my obvious love for the written word, for many reasons – most practical ones – I chose another route. I became a scientist, and for many years, writing remained on the backburner.

Then my whole life changed. I went through a very dark period of grief and heartbreak, and I delved again in the joy of rediscovering myself and my passions. I returned to writing in earnest.

I have been a published author for two and a half years now and it has been an interesting journey. I can’t say I have everything figured out yet (definitely not the sales!), but I have learned quite a bit and I was lucky to have met some interesting people, both writers and readers.

So, all this long introduction was to explain a little what I am hoping to achieve here.

My main goal is to connect with people who share the same love of books that I do. I believe that the written word is the greatest invention of our species, the only way to achieve true immortality, the only real tool to connect us all.

So, what will I be talking about?

I want to talk about The Craft with capital letters. The art of expressing complex thoughts in writing, of vividly describing a whole world in a few pages.

I want to discuss how to make a fictional person feel real enough to elicit love, hate, pity, or friendship. How to describe monsters that live only in one’s head.

That is the closest thing to a super-power I can think of!

What I will NOT be talking about?

This is a rant-free space. I KNOW that there is a lot to unpack and digest in the publishing world. In these two and a half years I have seen plenty of drama, rage baiting, and just plain toxic behaviour and I know that not talking about it will not make it go away.

However, I believe that focussing on the art of the written word, on the beauty of the stories is more important. It’s what makes us open that book.

It’s what makes authors write that story.

Will I mention my own books at all?

Yes, I will if I am talking about writing tips I can only use my own experience, so I’ll use my books as “Case Studies”.
