Wrath of Olympus, by E.M. Kkoulla

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Do you like meddling gods? Fans of classic mythology cannot miss this story!

We follow the story of Maia Abella, a girl without family whose fate is to be a servant all her life, but everything changes after the mysterious death of her cruel mistress. Suddenly Maia sees herself bound to a far greater destiny, though the why remains a mystery to her and those around.

I really loved the unique magic system created by Kkoulla and how she seamlessly wove science and supernatural (having a Science background myself, that was a bonus point!), making her descriptions feel quite natural amidst the narrative.

Maia’s character is well-developed and relatable and I absolutely adore Raven!

The pace was sometimes slow and I would have liked to see a little more foreshadowing and clues to the mystery surrounding Maia, but this took nothing from the pleasure of reading this well-thought of story, with a complete plot and a rich cast of characters. The end left me with a sense of building tension – always a plus for me! – and I am looking forward to diving into the next instalment of this series!
