A Pocket of Lies, by R.A. Sandpiper

Rating: 5 out of 5.

This is a rollercoaster of one bad decision after the other and occasionally you feel like you want to slap some sense into Suri, but I really think the poor girl had enough bad luck already.

We follow the story of Suri, an orphaned thief living the life of a pickpocket in the poorest area of the Forgelands. While trying to survive one problem, Suri ends up biting a lot more than she can chew and making enemies who are far too powerful for a young thief.

The plot is enhanced by an interesting magic system complete with meddling gods, Fae and portals. And of course, let’s not forget the tall dark stranger and all the tension building up for (hopefully!) Book 2.

I think the story really grew in the final third as the real plot began to take shape with an excellent cliffhanger in lieu of the finale! Now I am very curious to dive into the next instalment!
